Eleven+ appoints three new Trustees

Eleven+ is proud to announce the appointment of three new Trustees to the Board. Alyse Amato, Curtis Goodwin, and Stacey Slater began their terms on January 1, 2023.

Eleven+ is a young but ambitious nonprofit that depends on a wide variety of experiences and perspectives to assure its success. We are blessed to have a strong Board that provides the vision, viability, and governance that is essential to any organization but especially during the period of rapid growth we currently enjoy. Our new Trustees make us even stronger.

Alyse Amato

Alyse Amato is a New Jersey native who is passionate about improving equity in education and the job market. Alyse is currently the Employer Partnerships Manager at the Marcy Lab School, a rigorous college alternative program designed to prepare young people from underrepresented backgrounds for full-time careers in software engineering. She began her career as a Teach for America Corps Member, where she taught high school math in the New Orleans region. Alyse continued teaching at North Star Academy Washington Park High School, part of the Uncommon Schools charter network. Alyse held a variety of positions while at North Star including a year managing the school's High School 2.0 program, a program designed to expose students to internships and project-based learning. She spent another year managing their alumni career services programming, where worked with Eleven+ to place North Star alumni into internships.

Curtis Goodwin

Curtis Goodwin was born and raised in New London, CT. With a passion for the arts and entrepreneurship, he founded and co-produced the New London Youth Talent Show in 2010. He has worked over the last decade as a national sales and advertising account executive focusing on Diversity & Inclusion initiatives. As a former City Councilor for the City of New London, CT, he chaired the Committee for Economic Development and helped establish the New London Cultural District Commission, and the New London Black History Trail. Recently honored as one of CT’s 100 Most Influential Black leaders, his community activism and leadership was featured in the 2021 documentary film “Those People”. Goodwin is also a CT Entrepreneur of the Year award winner and a founding board member and chair of the OutCT youth program.

Stacey Slater Stacey Slater is the President and Founder of Pro Bono Strategies, a consulting firm that helps law firms and in-house legal departments to develop their pro bono programs in a cost-effective way. She previously spent 24 years at the law firm Nixon Peabody LLP, where she was a litigation partner and then firm-wide Pro Bono Partner. Stacey serves on the national Board of Family Promise (a national non-profit that helps homeless families), where she co-chairs the Board Development and Governance Committee, and is a longstanding Member of the Board of Trustees of Congregation Ohr Shalom-Summit JCC, where she serves as Membership Chair. Stacey also handles her own pro bono matters, most recently helping victims of sex trafficking. Stacey is a former member of Association of Pro Bono Counsel, the Leadership Committee of the Charity Corps, and New York City Bar Association Pro Bono Committee. 

We also take this opportunity to recognize and thank Trustee Jessica McKenzie who completed her term on the Board as of December 31, 2022. Jessica was an instrumental advisor to Eleven+ during its formation, providing invaluable insight and guidance as it established its first internship cadre. She continued to make valuable contributions inside and out of the boardroom, helping us to develop our programming and sharing her impressive network in the nonprofit, student enrichment, and philanthropic development spaces. Eleven+ levels the playing field, ensuring these students can get great paid internships doing formative work. As a result, young people gain applicable skills, valuable experience, and a network of mentors and peers that are critical to future success in the workplace.
